The expansion of the successful JUMO tecLine Lf-VA series as per Data Sheet 202924 has seen the development of two new measuring cells (K = 0.1 and K = 0.01). Shortening the active measurement electrodes also allows them to be installed for smaller pipe diameters and lower sample volumes.
Essential requirements for the design of the sensor were to follow the
hygienic design standards of EHEDG for shape and materials, and to
comply with the rules of ASTM International and Pharmacopoeia Europaea
(Ph. Eur.). This means that the sensor can be used in production plants
of ultra-pure water for the pharmaceutical, food and biotechnology
industries. But because of its good price/performance ratio, it is also
possible to use it in pure and ultra-pure water systems for technical
washing processes (reverse-osmosis systems, ion exchangers).
Conductive conductivity sensors working on the 2-electrode principle are
used to measure pure and ultra-pure water with conductivities of
approx. 0.05 µS/cm (18.3 MΩ) to approx. 500 µS/cm. The cell constants of
the sensors are crucial for getting the best measurement results. When
measuring ultra-pure water of optimum quality (below 1 µS/cm), it is
therefore essential to use a measuring cell with the cell constant K =
0.01. Cells with K = 0.1 are used in the range 10 µS/cm to max. approx.
500 µS/cm.
The wetted parts are made from electropolished quality stainless steel
1.4435 (316L). Inspection certificates in compliance with EN 10204 3.1
and roughness certificates (better than 0.8µm as per Ph. Eur. and ASTM
International) can be provided for them. The seals and plastics that are
used meet the requirements of the FDA and are physiologically safe. The
cell constants can be measured, and confirmed by an ASTM test
certificate. This is particularly important for pharmaceutical water
systems. Electrical connection is made via M12 connectors. A Pt1000,
Class A, is integrated for temperature acquisition.
The sensor has been fitted with the JUMO PEKA process connection system.
This is EHEDG-approved, and thus meets optimum hygiene standards.
Thanks to the modular design of the system, the stock version of the
sensor can quickly be fitted with any process connection the customer
requires. A suitable adapter (e.g. clamp, VARIVENT©, milk cone, welded
adapter) is screwed onto the sensor as a module.
